We are making plans for our 2015-16 school year and have been asking families to notify us if they have moved or plan to move before the 2015-16 school year. If any families move from now until the end of the year, they will be able to remain at Camarena through June, however we will not be allowing any Zone Transfers in 2015-16 so that we can make room for all the families that live within our attendance boundaries. If you have not already provided written notification to your child’s teacher, please fill out this form so that we can plan accordingly. Thanks in advance for your cooperation.
We have added a new feature to our website in which we share our daily attendance by grade level. You can see the chart on the right side bar and mouse over each grade level to see their attendance. On our first day back from Winter Break 4th grade takes the prize with 98.7% attendance. Our overall attendance today was 95.3%. So encourage your children to keep that strong attendance and they won’t miss out on spectacular events like this amazing Chilena and fantastic save at lunch recess.
With the start of the New Year, many of us look to the calendar as impetus to make improvements in a variety of habits and practices. Let me encourage you to put school attendance at the top of your list. Just a few missed days here and there, even if they’re excused absences, can add up to too much lost learning time and put your child behind in school. This is as true in transitional kindergarten as it is in sixth grade. So make a commitment to send and keep your child is in school every day, beginning with this first day of school. Our teachers will be teaching, and our students will be learning every day. But it’s harder to teach and it’s harder to learn when too many students are absent. If missing school is unavoidable, talk to your children’s teachers in advance to create a plan for making up missed work. So, help your child develop the good habit of consistent and regular school attendance in 2015 and beyond.
