Attached is our July/August Newsletter to keep you informed of the big events in the next month. From our Communication Survey, we see that the majority of parents prefer e-mail as the 1st or 2nd choice for communication, therefore we will be sending this newsletter by e-mail and providing a paper copy to those families that have requested.
Enrique S. Camarena Elementary School, in its first year of existence, raised $18,406.99, one of the top fund raising schools in Southern California.
A Big Jump Up in Health Awareness, and Fundraising
Students across the District skipped and jumped their way to a record amount of fundraising on behalf of the American Heart Association. Every year, Chula Vista schools participate in Jump Rope for Heart, which teach students about healthy habits such as good nutrition and psychical education as well as the importance of community service through fundraising. Collectively, District schools raised an amazing $126,768 during the 2013-14 school year, with 100 percent of the schools hosting a Jump Rope for Heart event.
***All After School Programs, like the Mandarin Class, are directed and supervised by organizations not affiliated with the Chula Vista Elementary School District or Camarena Elementary. These outside organizations rent space at Camarena in order to offer their program. When you voluntarily sign up for their classes you enter into a contract with these organizations and NOT Camarena Elementary. All liability is the responsibility of the outside organization.
The time has arrived. The 2014-15 school year is upon us. The school supply shopping is over and the teachers have prepared their rooms for the arrival of our special guests of honor – your children! For tomorrow morning, you are encouraged to come early as the gates will be open by 7:30 AM. We have some nifty signs that you can use to take a picture of the first day of school thanks to the amazing Sra. Sandoval. Here’s an example with a very old student below: Feel free to share on your social networks with #camlearns.
