The End of the Beginning

IMG_1078As we reach the end of our first quarter of existence, I want to express my gratitude and amazement at the community that is Camarena.  Opening this school has been a joy and we have only just begun!  We know there are still many things that need to get off the ground and other processes that  definitely can be improved.

To that end, we respectfully ask parents to not leave cars unattended in the drop-off zone in the front of school.  If you need, to get out of car, you’ll need to find a parking space.  Thanks in advance for your assistance with this matter.

During second quarter you can look forward to the appearance of our Safety Patrol and our first Recognition Events.  We will also see the first uses of our green screen room for daily broadcasts and podcasts.

IMG_0996Our chief aim is still to see your children thriving and engaged by pursuing their passions and interests in an atmosphere of innovation, teamwork, and joy.   Have a wonderful Fall Break.  We’ll see everyone back here on Tuesday October 8.

Posting Student Pictures

Greetings Camarena Families.  Camarena is a school with a variety of web-based applications including school and class websites, social media in both closed (Edmodo) and Twitter (open) environments.  We believe there are many beneficial reasons for sharing the great work that is going on in our classrooms to outside communities.  We are also aware of the need to maintain privacy and safety for our students.  To that end, we will be sending out a media release form this week to obtain permission from every family to share photos or videos of your child on the Internet.  If you wish to keep your child’s picture from appearing on any sites, we will of course, honor that request.  When we do post children’s photos for the purpose of showing the great work that is going on at Camarena we will either use no names or ONLY first names of children and we will never publish both first and last name without previous and specific consent from parents.   Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions regarding this process.

Seeking Graphic Artists

3131500-1425719678-TechnAfter 6 weeks of discussions, research, persuasive speeches, and votes our students have chosen the Camarena mascot.  We are the Robo Griffins!  Did anyone doubt we would come up with something unique?  Our next step is to design a logo and colors.   We have several parents with expertise in the graphic design field who have agreed to lead us in this process.  We will be meeting this Tuesday night at 6:30 PM.  If you have some expertise in this field, or would just like to have your voice heard, come join us in the Library Media Center on Tuesday night.  This committee will develop a handful of prototypes and the Camarena staff will make the final selection of our logo and colors.  Thanks in advance for your interest and involvement.
